RMI Education and Skills Strengthening Project
The Government of the Republic of Marshall Islands has received funding from the World Bank for the Education and Skills Strengthening Project (ESSP) cost. It intends to use part of the earnings for seeking advice from services.
The consulting services ("the Services") will help the Project Manager and the RMI National Training Council in executing the World Bank-funded job effectively.
The task will concentrate on supporting the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in developing a framework for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for TVET, targeted at helping the College of the Marshall Islands and the RMI National Training Council assess and improve the skills of workers through accredited college certification.

Women and Youth Training for

. The Marshall Islands: Skills Training and Vocational Education Project Evaluates the performance of the task and highlights lessons. Provides inputs to two more comprehensive assessments- the regional examination of ADB assistance for the Pacific and the unique examination study on Millennium Development Goals. The low academic achievement and scarcity of Marshallese skilled workers were mostly due to the poor quality of fundamental education, lack of access to education in the external islands, and weak points in abilities training and the occupation and technical education system.
These supported an economy marked by high unemployment because of constrained economic sector growth and federal government downsizing. Unemployment was especially high among the youth and females in the external islands. Suitable local experienced workers for existing job vacancies

of the Marshall Islands to focus on technical and occupation education training reforms. In 2000, ADB authorized a loan for $9.1 million to improve abilities training to offer well-trained employees needed for sustained financial and social advancement. This was to be accomplished through an integrated nationwide abilities training system. The task included four elements: advancement of a profession awareness program, abilities training improvement, boosted skills training opportunities for women and youth, and institutional fortifying. The expected result was increased income-generating chances and employment for trainees, specifically women and youth in the external islands. Overall, the task was rated not successful. Minimal development was accomplished in making the job responsive to the requirements of its recipients and private-sector companies. The enduring weakness of poor numeracy and literacy proficiencies
